Gilbert and Maria Garcia, longtime members of our fellowship here at Calvary Chapel of El Paso, have been faithfully ministering to a community in Juarez, Mexico by operating a school named Colegio James R. Ganley. This school is free to the children in the community thanks to the generosity of families from all over the North America who sponsor students and give of their time to build and maintain the school's facilities.
On Monday, November 1, 2021, a fire started on the 3rd floor of the school building. The entire 3rd floor was consumed by the fire and there was also significant water damage to the rest of the facility because of the efforts to put out the blaze. While we are thankful that there was no loss of life or serious injuries, there was significant material loss and damage to the facility. It will probably take several weeks to sort through the damage and begin the rebuilding process.
